Coin value, also called coin size or coin denomination, is the cash worth of a single betting unit in a slot. Total stake per spin is normally coin value multiplied by the number of coins per line and the number of active lines, so changing any of the three changes what a spin costs. Paytables are usually expressed in coins rather than currency, which is why the same table serves every stake level: a win listed as one hundred coins pays one hundred times the coin value. Older games sometimes reserved the top prize or the jackpot for the maximum coins per line, making the real cost of a spin higher than the coin value suggests. Checking coin value before spinning is the simplest way to avoid staking far more per spin than intended.
