Market Suspension

Market suspension temporarily freezes a betting market so no new bets are taken while the odds are repriced after a key event.

Market suspension is the temporary freeze a sportsbook applies to a betting market so that no new bets can be placed on it. In live betting it happens automatically whenever something may change the price — a goal, a penalty, a red card, a video review, or a break in the data feed — and the market reopens once the trading system has repriced the event. Suspension protects the operator from bets placed on information that has already reached the customer but not yet the odds. Bets struck before a suspension normally stand; bets submitted during one are rejected rather than held in a queue. A market can also stay suspended for the rest of an event if integrity concerns arise or the feed cannot be restored, in which case open bets are handled under the void rules.
