A VPN routes your connection through a server elsewhere, so the site sees that server's location instead of yours. Millions of people run one for ordinary privacy or work reasons, which is why this appears in gambling terms at all — but almost every licensed operator's terms and conditions prohibit using one to access the service, and the reason is regulatory rather than commercial. The practical advice is narrow and worth stating plainly. Switch a VPN off before opening a gambling account or placing a bet, even where you are inside the licensed territory, because a mismatch alone can trigger a verification hold and a locked balance while it is resolved.
