Wincast

A wincast is a combined single bet that pairs a named player to score at any time with the final result of the match, both of which must land for the bet to win. It is a close cousin of the scorecast, but instead of predicting the exact final score it only requires you to call the outcome (home win, draw, or away win), which is why a wincast is cheaper in odds terms and easier to hit than a scorecast, while still paying more than backing either leg on its own. Because the two selections are correlated, bookmakers price the wincast using their own combined-odds tables rather than simply multiplying the individual prices. A striker is more likely to score in a game his team wins, so the effective multiplier is trimmed to protect the book's margin. Most sportsbooks offer wincast markets on major football fixtures, typically with an anytime goalscorer as the default player leg. Worked example: you back Erling Haaland to score anytime and Manchester City to win. The bookmaker's wincast table prices this at 5/2 (3.50 in decimal), an implied probability of about 28.6%. A £10 stake returns £35 (£25 profit plus your £10 back) if Haaland nets and City win. If City win but Haaland is kept quiet, or Haaland scores in a draw, the whole bet loses. Practically, a wincast is a popular low-stakes flutter because the two legs feel intuitive, but the shortened correlated odds mean the value is thinner than the numbers first suggest.
