Reality Check

A reality check is a responsible-gambling tool that displays a pop-up interrupting play at set intervals to remind a player how long they have been in their current session and, at many operators, how much they have staked, won or lost during it. The message pauses the game and asks the player to consciously choose whether to continue or stop, breaking the immersive flow that can make people lose track of time and money. Reality checks are mandated in several regulated markets. You must click "Continue" or "Exit" before the reels will spin again. If you continue, the next prompt arrives at 21:00 showing the cumulative figures for the full hour. For players, the practical value is using a short interval (15-30 minutes) as a self-imposed circuit-breaker rather than accepting a long default.
