Net deposit is total deposits minus total withdrawals over a period. It is the amount of your own money that has actually gone into an account and stayed there, and unlike a balance it does not move when a session goes well for an hour.
The figure matters because balances mislead. A player can see a healthy balance and still be well down over a year, and can see an empty one after a period that cost very little. Net deposit ignores what the balance happens to be doing today and answers the only question a household budget cares about.
Most operators expose the inputs in the account statement, so the calculation is a subtraction rather than an estimate. Deposit and loss limits are set most sensibly against this number rather than against a session result, and reviewing it over several months is a plainer picture of what playing has cost than any single session can give.
